The Editorial Team
TheCityIsOurs is produced by a collaborative team of reporters, editors, data journalists and visual storytellers, led by an Editor-in-Chief. We hold regular editorial conferences and apply multi-step review to sensitive investigations. Contributors are selected for expertise in urban affairs, housing, transport, culture and the environment across UK cities.
Editorial Line
Our coverage centres on public-interest reporting about city life, with a constructive, solutions-focused approach. We are editorially independent of political and commercial influence. We prioritise accountability journalism, practical service information and diverse community voices that add context and depth.
Journalistic Values
We strive for accuracy, fairness and clarity. Facts are verified, context is provided and sources are attributed where safe to do so. News, analysis and opinion are clearly distinguished. Sponsored or partner content is prominently labelled. Corrections are issued promptly and transparently.
Journalistic Ethics and Deontology
We adhere to the Editors’ Code of Practice and applicable UK law. Conflicts of interest must be declared; staff do not accept gifts that could compromise independence. We avoid discrimination and harmful stereotyping, protect sources, and respect privacy. Undercover methods are used only when there is a strong public interest and no viable alternative. Complaints are reviewed by senior editors.
